Case definitions for infection with swine influenza A (H1N1) Virus
1.Aconfirmed case of swine influenza is defined as a person with an acute respiratory illness or influenza like illness with laboratory confirmed swine influenza A (H1N1) virus infection at CDC by one or more of the following tests: real time RT-PCR, viral culture, four fold rise in swine influenza A (H1N1) virus specific neutalizing antibodies
2.A Probable case of swine flu A (H1N1) virus infections is defined as aperson with an acute respiratory illness or influenza like illness with an influenza test that is positive for influenza A, but H1 and H3 negative.
3.A suspected case of swine influenza A (H1N1) virus infection is defined as:
- A person with an acute respiratory illness or influenza like illness who was a close contact to cofirmed case of swine influenza A (H1N1) virus infection while the case was ill OR
- A person with an acute respiratory illness or influenza like illness with a resent history of contact with an anmal with confirmed or suspected swine flu A (H1N1)virus infection OR
- A person with an acute respiratory illness who has traveled to an area where there are confirmed cases of swine flu A (H1N1)within 7 days of suspect cases illness onset.
4. Infections period: 1 day before onset to 7 days after onset of illness
5. Close contact is defined as:within about 2 meters of an ill person who is a confirmed or suspected case of swine flu A (H1N1)
6. Clinicians should consider swine flu A (H1N1) virus infection in the differential diagnosis of pt with febrile repiratory disease and who traveled resently to any infected areas by WHO or were in contact with persons had febrile respiratory illness from an infected area the 7 days preceding their illness onset.
